About Social Services
Tailored for individuals pursuing career in social service support, it offers so needed sector related guidance into social services skill trades that are in demand and report labour shortage. Program spans 6 weeks of intensive group sessions and individual counselling about labour regulations, rights, responsibilities, career clusters, workplace communication and sector terminology, and 6 months of post program help. It offers experiential learning with the sector through mentoring, coaching, observation, shadowing, working, sharing resource platforms and volunteering.
Program Goals
- 6-week program to help participants develop industry-specific knowledge and technical competency
- Identification of hard, soft and transferable skills
- Learn workplace safety skills, interpersonal skills, and other essential skills, and understand workplace cultureAssisted Job Search
- Help participants secure apprenticeships in sectors including social services

Eligibility
- Recipients of Ontario Works (OW)
- Legally entitled to work
- Out of work, Unemployed and Underemployed
- Interested in Social Services, Education, Childcare, Health Care, Government and Non-profits
